The 2013 GREAT Tech Awards

The British Consulate General New York and UK Trade & Investment have been encouraging American companies to apply for the GREAT Tech Awards 2013. The awards were created to support and celebrate the ongoing technological relationships between the United Kingdom and the United States, with cities both sides of the Atlantic leading the way in technology innovation.

One American winner from each of five categories (hardware, education, lifestyle, finance, and media) will be chosen to visit London’s Tech City in mid-October and will be handpicked by a selection of expert judges. They will also win a plethora of other prizes including a pass to London’s Wired 2013 Conference, a tour of co-working and shared office spaces in London, and £5,000 worth of central London conference and meeting facilities in 2014.

One UK-based company with an office in New York will also be chosen for the Advisors’ Choice Award, entitling them to three classes at General Assembly London, a business reception hosted by the British Consul General New York at the Consul General’s residence, and other great prizes.

Here at Shoreditch Office Space, we can’t wait to meet some of the winners when they visit London a few weeks time. It is hoped that international collaboration between the two technology hubs (affectionately dubbed Silicon ‘Roundabout’ and ‘Alley’) will lead to greater innovation across the sector. As a truly international community, Tech City has benefited massively from the influx of foreign talent into the cluster.
